HAWTHORN midfielder Clinton Young suffered a minor setback in his recovery from a groin injury during the week and failed to play for Box Hill in yesterday's 49-point loss to Port Melbourne at TEAC Oval. But in better news for the Hawks, the coaching hierarchy faces a ruck dilemma with Brent Renouf amassing another 32 hit-outs.Young, however, is a week-to-week proposition for Box Hill and it is understood the Hawks won't take any risks in playing him until after the mid-season break - and the same goes for injured star Luke Hodge."He's got a bit of a niggling groin and they're just waiting for that to settle," Box Hill coach Brendan Bolton said. "He's just trying to get it right and they don't want to take any risks with him. It will be a week-by-week proposition."He's a great ball-user and provides plenty of run and carry so he'd be great to have in your side, whether that's Box Hill or Hawthorn."Young has not played for Hawthorn since its round-five win over West Coast in Tasmania, and it was initially thought he would only have a two-week stint on the sidelines.Renouf, meanwhile, continues to put pressure on ruckmen Robert Campbell and Simon Taylor for a spot in Hawthorn's senior team.Renouf was chosen ahead of Taylor in last year's premiership side, but has fallen out of favour in the early part of the season despite some impressive performances such as his brilliant aerial display yesterday."Obviously with their (Port Melbourne) tall forwards, he had to do a lot of work," Bolton said. "We played him down back and in the ruck. For a number of weeks, he's come with a fantastic attitude and makes a strong contribution."He's just got to keep performing the way he's doing. He can only control what he can control. I think his name is up there."Travis Tuck had a swag of disposals, while Ryan Schoenmakers showed plenty of promising glimpses along with developing rookie Tim Walsh.–Collingwood proved it has an abundance of forward depth with Chris Dawes, Brent Macaffer and Chris Bryan forming a lethal unit in its 50-point win over the Northern Bullants at Visy Park yesterday. The trio had more than 20 marks between them with Dawes finishing with a game-high three goals. Bryan kicked two and Macaffer kicked one.Magpies VFL coach Gavin Brown said he was pleased with his forwards' intensity and pressure at ground level.Dayne Beams showed flashes of brilliance in the midfield and around goal to snare two goals, while Jaxson Barham showed plenty of poise in defence.Carlton's Jordan Bannister was one of the shining lights in the Bullants' loss, according to coach David Teague."He played centre half-back," said Teague. "He was the only player who was willing to kick the ball forward."Teague said he was also impressed with Adam Hartlett, who battled tirelessly against the bigger bodies in defence before being switched forward in the last quarter "to try and steal the game".Shaun Grigg and Richard Hadley won plenty of the ball out of the midfield for the Blues in their bid for senior recalls. After being dropped again from the Carlton line-up, Teague said Hadley has a lot to offer the Blues' midfield."He's played some great footy at AFL level and his strength overhead probably goes unnoticed to a lot of people but, even at AFL level, he really helps Chris Judd out to give him a bit of space," he said.
